“[..]there really ISN?T enough of a black presence in videoblogging?. <– I agree with that. Although I know and visited quite a few blogs maintained by black people to me there still seems to be a lack of variety in the blogging- and especially in the video blogging scene. Maybe blogging just hasn’t spread into every country and part of society, yet. However v(blogging) seems to be booming in the USA and over here in europe it is starting to do so, too.

I like the idea of exploring this topic further by asking people right from the street if they’ve ever considered v(blogging) or at least heared about it. This would be especially interesting if a few v(bloggers) from different cities or even countries were involved.

Somehow this idea reminds me back to that one episode at rocketboom when Amanda asked people if they preferred Firefox or IE. It wasn’t only fun to see their reactions and listen to their arguments but quite informative, too.

I’m looking forward seeing the next episode on monday and I hope that you’ll think about returning to this topic someday.
Keep up the great work – that way other people might be inspired to start something like vblogging on their own, too.

Tatti- 1984 is one of the best books every written… the very idea is mind-altering and should be a mandatory read for everyone in the world!

Cuoredifango- Thanks man! Coderonin kind of inspired us to start Galacticast… it was so hard for both Rudy and I to have our own videoblogs that we decided to found one together!

Emily- Hola chikita! I miss the days when I was John Stewart and you were Steven Colbert… we were inseperable due to our own liberal/conservative debates!

Amanda- Edgy is certainly the right word for it! Don’t worry, we’ll definitely let you know when the Galacticast World Tour comes to your neck of the woods. x.

Johnnie- If you think our show caught you off guard this week, just imagine the guts it took me to press the “publish” button! It was such a touchie subject but I felt it needed to be addressed. We figured that if Stephen Colbert could get away with it, we could too.

The idea stemmed from a real need that we’ve been faced with on many occassions. We honestly DO need a black friend to help us out… we HAVE black friends but some friends grow distant at different times of your life, so you don’t always have the variety you want when you need to cast your friends in your show! Right now most of our black friends live in NYC (Charles, Bekah, Bendrick). If they were here in Montreal, it wouldn’t be an issue.

I sincerely hope that this week’s episode never shocked you to the point of being offended… this was never our intention. But you’re right… there really ISN’T enough of a black presence in videoblogging and this is something that many people worry about. If vlogging is supposed to be accessible to everyone as a way to express themselves and get their word out to the world, why aren’t we seeing more diversity? Perhaps someone should go out there and make a story about it… ask black people if they’re interested and why/why not.

No I didn’t know that a commodore 64 game existed based on Neuromancer. I am about 2/3 – 3/4 of my way through the book and I love it. Amazing that amount of futuristic technology he can fit in while still having a story line.

I1ve read Neuromancer and I think it’s the best written by Mr. Gibson. Did qou know there is a commodore 64 game inspired by that book?

Bekah- Rudy really creeped me out as Ruby Rhod… if the hair wasn’t bad enough, just wearing my clothes made it worse! I’ll have to watch it again to see if there’s any outtakes worth posting.

Dan- Thanks Dan!! I’m glad you and Calamity find the HAL scene notable, I really liked it too! That was the best Mr. T. voice Rudy could do. Did you listen to the song that I mixed during the end credits? It was basically a HAL rap song using samples of Rudy’s voice. Go check it out now if you didn’t hear it before! AND… for those of you who don’t bother watching the credits… come on guys, watch the credits… we give you bite-sized bonus jokes in there!

This all confirms my belief that Galacticast is on the frontlines in the War on Terror. Despite Al-Queda’s clear attempt at directly stopping our show, we carried on. We put out the show. I like to think that this episode will be remembered as the episdoe where we declared in one voice “We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight!” We’re going to vlog on! We’re going to survive! Today is our Galacticast Day!!! … or something like that …

Very funny stuff I especially appreciated the Fifth Element part and the Will Smith shout out…though any mention of the sacrilege that was the I Robot movie pains me.

Steven- I know what you mean… when I moved back to Canada I was surprised to see how multicultural it was… Scotland is SO WHITE!

Lynne- If you can remember the fact that we’re never serious… you’ll probably get it all a bit earlier in the future. That said, I’ll glad we sort of fooled you because we wanted it to look real up until the part where I colourized Rudy’s face to a black face. That was fun to make!

Leonardo- Hehehe… we’re comedians! The whole point was we were trying to make us look like idiots. Of COURSE Koreans are Asian too… I studied East Asia in university (I even speak semi-fluent Korean and some Japanese). I left the Latinos behind because I thought it was funnier to mention the French! See ya next week

Maybe I’m having problems in understanding the real meaning behind all this for English is not my first language. Anyways, aren’t Korean Asians too??? What do you mean when you say you’re looking for Asians AND Koreans?? I guess I can say that since I was married to a Korean woman in past. Also, if this episode, joke or not, is all about celebration of multi-ethnicity, why leave the Latinos behind?

Where you serious about the cast memember thing. I don’t know anyone black people though. Wait, what does that say about me? :-S. I says nothing. I don’t think a black person stays within 1 mile of my house and very few where at my school bad in the day. More asians and muslims in scotland that black people.

p.s. The asian cyclon chick is smokin. Shes a cyclon but hey who gives a frek, I can’t tell the difference. lol.

And NOTHING could’ve made Superman III a better movie. Unless, of course, it hadn’t been made. Then it would’ve been great.
