  1. Hahaha. That was worth the wait. “To the the mushroom kingdom!”

You really hit an impressive number of classic games there! I remember all of them.

Sorry about that … pong hell … or whatever, Rudy … but at least Casey got out with 2 lives left.

    - David Meade, August 2nd, 2006
  2. Awesome!

Trying to hit that Ninja resturant in a couple weeks while in NYC!

    - Jarod, August 2nd, 2006
  3. How did you do that?

    - CarLBanks, August 2nd, 2006
  4. I think your disembodied heads are going to haunt my dreams for weeks to come…

Which was probably your devious plan ALL ALONG!

    Clever…but I’m on to you…

    Matthew

  5. Casey – you’re pretty handy with that old-school phaser. Kinda scary, actually.

    Most labour-intensive bit to date?

    - Dave, August 2nd, 2006
  6. [...] Then check out this weeks Galacticast. Great stuff. [...]

  7. amazing!

    - ben, August 2nd, 2006
  8. Hilarious!!! Casey, did you really set foot on your toilet bowl??? Yuuuckkk!!! Hahahhaha!!

BTW, looks like your keying is improving! Congrats!

    - Leonardo, August 2nd, 2006
  9. As hard as i’m tryin to get it right it still puzzles me : how come Casey sleeps with all her clothes on, even though Rudy sleeps beneath her ? how come Casey sleeps with her full Judy-Garland-make-up ? how come Casey and Rudy have a direct access to a gameplay dimension through their toilets ? and, finally, how come Casey did manage to finish the Space Invaders level without been game-overed like i used to when i was a teen-ager ??

it was definitely worth waiting a couple of days : thanks again and congratulations !

    - jeanphi, August 2nd, 2006
  10. Darn good ! !
Questions : why Casey does sleep with her clothes and her make-up on although she sleeps with Rudy ? why do they have a direct access to the video-game dimension through their toilet bowl ? why Casey did manage to win the Space Invaders level without been gamme-overed like i use d to as a teen-ager ?

Keep on doing so crazy and funny videos guys, you’re great, especially Casey and her elfic ears !

    - jeanphi, August 2nd, 2006
  11. Your last couple of shows, including this one, have been simply fantastic!

    - Matt Philmon, August 2nd, 2006
  12. David- Since I grew up watching the Batman TV series with Adam West I tend to say “To the bat-[blank]” quite often. I may have left out the word “bat” but it was there in spirit!

Jarod- Thanks man! Coming from a guy that has “8bit” in his domain name, your compliments are worth 100 coins/word.

Carl- It took a lot of chocolate ;)

    G14- You know nothing…

Dave- You should see me with a bat’leth. And yes, this episode may be short, but it took about double the effort of a usual episode…

    Ben- You’re amazing!

Leonardo- Dude, I can show you the unedited version… Rudy had this horrible look on his face after I put my foot in the toilet and I went “I CLEAN these toilets MYSELF! I KNOW they’re clean enough for my foot!

Matt- Thanks for your vote of confidence, we try our best every week to entertain you… just you Matt Philmon. Just you.

    - Casey, August 2nd, 2006
  13. Ahah, just discovered the Galacticast. You’re awesome :)

    - Bru, August 2nd, 2006
  14. I liked this episode! I used to play these games when I was a kid.

    - Ignac, August 2nd, 2006
  15. Looks like Casey’s number one with a… phaser.

Ahh this one was definitely worth the wait. It’s made me an angry happy girl. The Mario 3 bit made me crack up, especially how it’s probably one of my favorite games ever! When do we get to see Tanooki Suit Casey? :P

    - Calamity, August 2nd, 2006
  16. Proof reading is awesome (sorry the heat is frying my brain :X)! That should say “an incredibly happy girl”

    - Calamity, August 2nd, 2006
  17. Wow! Definitely worth the wait! This was awesome! I can’t believe you had to go down a toilet, although, that explains why I think I hear a Nintendo going everytime I use the bathroom!

So, what does this mean? Can I find Rudy on my own!!! He’s just stuck in my Nintendo or Atari! Hmmm, I’m gonna dig that thing out tonight and go find Rudy!

Great production…yet again! So, where do I nominate you guys for the BEST videocast??? Great work!

    - Andy Melton, August 2nd, 2006
  18. This episode was one of the best ever. I had a right good chuckle. Love seeing and hearing all the old games. It brought back some good and frustrating memories. Glad to hear the toilet was clean, I think I would have to have washed it in gasoline and set it alight then washed it to be sure :-S.

    MORTAL KOMBAT ! ! !
    FINISH HIM !
    Toastie lol
    Steven

    - Steven, August 2nd, 2006
  19. Great One!

    - midnighttlc, August 2nd, 2006
  20. Bloody well brilliant guys. If you want to make some coin from this I’d suggest making a DVD and attending a SF con and seeing if there are any takers.

You guys deserve to profit from this and my eyeballs don’t pay the rent.

And you have a classic trek phaser. *jealous*

  21. I want a tricorder. I real one. That actually tricords. :-D .

Scanning for life signs is fun kids.

    - Steven, August 2nd, 2006
  22. A real one.

Watched this week show, bored Now :-(

Think i’ll go read a book.

Keep up the good work C & R.

    - Steven, August 2nd, 2006
  23. loved it

    - Orlie Omegamu, August 2nd, 2006
  24. Good one.

    I like the pacacey part!!!

    - Lan Bui, August 3rd, 2006
  25. loved it. well produced. and casey was in it, so i’m bound to love it. :)

    - dmouse, August 3rd, 2006
  26. Bru- Thanks, man! We welcome you here with open arms and hope to hear more from you.

Calamity- I didn’t know what Tanooki suit Casey was because I always called it “the bear suit”. We’ll see what we can do in the future…

Andy- Oooh… best videicast? You’re the best, Andy! I knew about a sci-fi podcast award contest called the Parsec Awards (http://www.parsecawards.com/), but the nominations closed last month and I’m not the kind of person to ask people to vote/nominate us… I believe people should go vote of their own free will (this is why I secretly hate Podcast Alley).

Steven- Glad you liked it… so was ET the game you found frustrating? I’ve only played that one as a grown up, but boy oh boy does it suck!

    midnightttlc- Thanks!

Scott- Well, it’s only a 4-minute skit, so I don’t know how profitable it would be to make a DVD and sell it at SF Cons… but I appreciate the idea. As for the phaser, you should be able to pick it up at your local comic shop… that’s where we got ours (I bought one and then we walked back an hour later to get Rudy one too!)

    Orlie- And we love you!

Lan- Hehehe… my mother loved that part too! My family used to flip the Pac-Man scoreboard and play for HOURS… we would even take turns so that my mother could play in between making supper! Ahh, the good ol’ days.

dmouse- You’re like a mushroom for my ego, dmouse… thanks ;)

    - Casey, August 3rd, 2006
  27. Yep, Casey, I’d love to see the unedited footage of your stepping on the toilet bowl! Hmm… on a second thought… nope, I wouldn’t… :)

So, where are you guys located? Toronto, Montreal??

    - Leonardo, August 3rd, 2006
  28. Leonardo- Montreal, but we’ll be at the FanExpo in Toronto in early September:

    http://www.hobbystar.com/ComicConToronto2006/CC_Main.asp
    or…
    http://tinyurl.com/h66c4

We won’t have a table set up or anything because I’ll be working as a personal assistant to one of the sci-fi celebrity guests, while Rudy will be helping with the comic guests. Still, we are considering making GALACTICAST flyers… perhaps we can sucker someone into handing them out for us!

    - Casey, August 3rd, 2006
  29. Ok, now that one was a classic.

    /standing ovation

    - The Right Rev Chumley, August 3rd, 2006
  30. Bravo, very entertaining and technologically impressive, not to mention the Real Super Mario!

    - Andrew C, August 3rd, 2006
  31. ET! THAT WAS ET! lol I loved that game! You could have made your neck really long so you could fly up out of that hole LOL. This episode was completely awesome!

    - Susan, August 3rd, 2006
  32. Yea ET sucked bigtime. I used to get frustrated with any game I got killed in. I would throw the controller at the wall and get real angry. Luckily for me and others I’m pretty happy go lucky these days. Still like winning and am competitive but I let it bother me alot less lol.

I used to shout at the screen if I’d die “no, this isn’t fair. Mum the computer if cheating me” lol

    The good old days.

    Steven

    - Steven, August 3rd, 2006
  33. Outstanding!

    - Saddlewood, August 4th, 2006
  34. I must say this was awesome brought back memories of my gaming youth! The dunny portal made me laugh.

    -Lynne

    - Lynne, August 4th, 2006
  35. Haha, I really liked the actual episode, very nice idea and editing – great ending, too. I’m looking forward seeing the next one on monday. Keep it going, you two are the best.

    - Tatti, August 4th, 2006
  36. Chumley- Why am I picturing you in an 8-bit world all dressed up in your Reverend hat? That would be awesome… perhaps you should change your background that way for an episode!

Andrew C- Yes, but has the Real Super Mario even received our trackback yet? I haven’t seen him comment!

Susan- I love you but ET sucks! You might be able to levitate out of the whole, but you always find a way of falling back in!

Steven- You scare me dude… ;)

Saddlewood- YOU’re outstanding… have you seen yourself on our new cast list? http://www.galacticast.com/cast We’ll be adding short bios soon.

Lynne- I’m confused, what’s a Dunny Portal? I hear ya on the gaming youth… my family were big on Atari and Nintendo.

Tatti- Thanks man, we’re filming Monday’s episode tonight… a little last minute since the last one took so long to make! You’re the best.

    - Casey, August 4th, 2006
  37. I’m pretty sure I almost died laughing at the E.T. part.

    God, what a miserable game.

    - Colin, August 4th, 2006
  38. You guys are crazy. (ha)

    - W.O>, August 4th, 2006
  39. Jesus, that episode was hawsome. Kinda curious where Rudy’s nickname “Princess” came from. I’m betting it had nothing to do with Super Mario Bros.

    - Joe, August 4th, 2006
  40. Colin- Oh boy, you should see the outtakes of the ET scene… Rudy was asking me to talk like Ze Frank and it TOTALLY didn’t work out!

    W.O.- Binjo!

Joe- It had everything to do with Super Mario Bros… were you being sarcastic? Casey=Mario, Rudy=Princess… nuff said.

    - Casey, August 4th, 2006
  41. Ok, Casey, if that’s your story, you stick to it. I’m just thinking the nickname has more to do with KitKast style role playing than Nintendo. Oh, and of course I’m being sarcastic. :)

    - Joe, August 4th, 2006
  42. Oh those wacky Aussies, let me translate for Lynne

    Dunny Portal=Toilet portal

    Good on ya!

    - The Right Rev Chumley, August 4th, 2006
  43. Joe- I often use mock-HTML sarcasm tags when using sarcasm over the net… it’s all so confusing!!!

Chumley- Yes, Rudy informed me of this earlier today… I actually had a little bit of a geek breakdown when I wondered whether I didn’t understand some hardcore Super Mario terminology, I even searched for it on Google! Rudy went to British school as a boy so he came to my rescue… and now I can rest easy knowing I’m still just as geeky as I originally thought I was ;)

    - Casey, August 5th, 2006
  44. No need to be scared of lil old me lol. The days of decapitating pigeons and causing concussion to siblings with a joypad are gone. Besides you are all the way over the atlantic I could never throw that far :-)

    Calm and Relaxed

  45. lol, RAWK!

My mario obsession has recently reached new heights, as I got NES on my treo — the result of my long commute is that I can now beat SMB1 in under 6 minutes.

Awesome ep! Each one is better than the last- keep it up, guys!

    - Verdi, August 14th, 2006
  49. YEAH! Oh my god that was so much fun,

The big guy running down the street after Casey’s was AWESOME! You should have put him as Bowser at the end!

    Great work Galacticast

ps: come to the next OVMF concert, we miss you ;)

  50. Hey all, Ho here, long time fan, first time blogger.

What a great short!! So many many favorite parts…but I think the bestest was either 2600 pac-man or the mortal kombat pysch out! Good times.

P.S.-I too hated E.T. for atari
