  1. Hmmmmm….that’s good old-fashioned FAMILY racism.

And NOTHING could’ve made Superman III a better movie. Unless, of course, it hadn’t been made. Then it would’ve been great.

  2. Dam you g14. Comments where at zero when I came on here but I decided to watch the video first before making one :-( .

Where you serious about the cast memember thing. I don’t know anyone black people though. Wait, what does that say about me? :-S. I says nothing. I don’t think a black person stays within 1 mile of my house and very few where at my school bad in the day. More asians and muslims in scotland that black people.

p.s. The asian cyclon chick is smokin. Shes a cyclon but hey who gives a frek, I can’t tell the difference. lol.

  3. Had i been handsome i would have send you a headshot for the french cast but…
anyway, this one is as good as the others one, with a certain amount of heavy facts, some funny dubbing (especially the Star Wars’ scene !), casey once again in a fitting dress and some Rudy’s legs.
Thanks also to casey (or the loony writer ?) for the reference to THE BROTHER FROM ANOTHER PLANET de John Sayles, one of my all-time, underrated, little scifi film.

  4. Hi Casey,

This one took me a while to get for real or joke , but it was funny Sorry Rudy but I snorted cofee out my nose when he said Rudys where hurt in this video lol

    - Lynne, August 14th, 2006
  5. Hi Casey and Rudy,

Maybe I’m having problems in understanding the real meaning behind all this for English is not my first language. Anyways, aren’t Korean Asians too??? What do you mean when you say you’re looking for Asians AND Koreans?? I guess I can say that since I was married to a Korean woman in past. Also, if this episode, joke or not, is all about celebration of multi-ethnicity, why leave the Latinos behind?

Well, well… guess I’ll be standing by for the next episode! :)

    - Leonardo, August 14th, 2006
  6. G14- I don’t think that I ever bothered to see Superman III more than once because it was so bad. As a result, I don’t even remember the storyline so I can’t comment on whether or not it would have been better!

Steven- I know what you mean… when I moved back to Canada I was surprised to see how multicultural it was… Scotland is SO WHITE!

Lynne- If you can remember the fact that we’re never serious… you’ll probably get it all a bit earlier in the future. That said, I’ll glad we sort of fooled you because we wanted it to look real up until the part where I colourized Rudy’s face to a black face. That was fun to make!

Leonardo- Hehehe… we’re comedians! The whole point was we were trying to make us look like idiots. Of COURSE Koreans are Asian too… I studied East Asia in university (I even speak semi-fluent Korean and some Japanese). I left the Latinos behind because I thought it was funnier to mention the French! See ya next week ;)

    - Casey, August 14th, 2006
  7. JeanPhi- Sorry I missed you there, dear Frenchman, your comments are always in moderation for some reason. I think that when it comes to French cast members personality is more important than looks… and besides, you already have a high rank in the Galacticast Army, so you don’t even need to send us a headshot! About the BROTHER FROM ANOTHER PLANET… I had NO IDEA that was the name of a sci-fi film! Perhaps Rudy does… but I doubt it. Rudy?

    - Casey, August 14th, 2006

  9. That was some wonderfully insightful commentary on the American condition.

  11. Hey I’m French! Oh wait, I’m not a man…darnit.

Very funny stuff :) I especially appreciated the Fifth Element part and the Will Smith shout out…though any mention of the sacrilege that was the I Robot movie pains me.

    - Kelli from the g14izzle, August 14th, 2006
  12. Hey there,
since I am neither really black, white, Asian, nor Korean or a Frenchman I won’t send you any headshots but you may be assured that I enjoyed the current episode as much as any previous.
    As I didn’t know what “100% WASP” means I asked: http://acronyms.thefreedictionary.com/WASP
    However I cannot decide between:
“WASP – White Anglo-Saxon Protestant” or
    “WASP – What A Strange Person” :)

    greetings from Germany,

    - Tatti, August 14th, 2006
  13. Tatti, I formally accept both of those definitions.

    - Andrew C, August 14th, 2006
  14. I watched many hours ago … and up until now I couldn’t comment … just the thought of the word “Galacticast” would send me into another hour of painful laughter from seeing Rudy play the part of “Ruby Rhod”.

WAHAHA … oh my God that was great … LOL … oh here comes that uncontrollable laughter again … WAHAHAHAA

    - David Meade, August 14th, 2006
  15. I am horribly, deeply offended by your racism, sexism, homophobia, classism, and your prejudicial hatred of eggnog. I call for a worldwide boycott of all your products until a public apology is issued. And sensitivity training for Rudy: violence against women is no joke!!!!

    - Charles Hope, August 14th, 2006
  16. Matt – Superman III will always hold a special place in my heart simply because it inspires Drunken Superman. Wait, did I say heart? I meant bowels …

    Lynne – Save me …

Jeanphi – I am sadly ignorant of modern french sci-fi…

W.O. – Yet again, Yankees leave it up to us Canucks to point it out to them. *sigh*

Kelli – WHAAAAA? I actually liked iRobot.

Also, our “shoutout” was suppose to be much more. We had a little segment planned, featuring recurring cast member Dave (Ladies Love) Noiseux. Unfortunately, he was in London this week, so guess whose flights were delayed?

This all confirms my belief that Galacticast is on the frontlines in the War on Terror. Despite Al-Queda’s clear attempt at directly stopping our show, we carried on. We put out the show. I like to think that this episode will be remembered as the episdoe where we declared in one voice “We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight!” We’re going to vlog on! We’re going to survive! Today is our Galacticast Day!!! … or something like that …

    … ahem …

Tatti – Yes, both apply. More so then Andrew believes.

    David – <rudy-rhod>Rudy Rhod loves you!!!</rudy-rhod>

Charles – But Charles … what if I AM the woman?!?!?

    - Rudy, August 14th, 2006
  17. Rudy > John Sayles IS NOT a french film-maker ! !

    - jeanphi, August 14th, 2006
  18. I called Casey this morning to see if Rudy was black and blue from this episode. I didn’t understand what Rudy was saying about “being injured in this episode”. Then I guessed it was Armenians(close but no cigars). Then Casey informed me that it was “No Rudys were injured in this episode” and it all fell into place. Hope you’re not too sore today. Keep up the good work.

    - Marian (Casey's Mom), August 14th, 2006
  19. Well, I “got” it and thought it was a total scream.

Rudy’s Ruby Rhod made me giggle like a girl. Wait…I am a girl…

It made me giggle like myself.

    - missbhavens, August 14th, 2006
  20. Simply fantastic! Rudy’s Ruby Rhod had me in complete stitches. Ebonics spouting HAL, I love it!

Let me know when you need the goofy, less scruffy than Han but just as much of a nerfherding, Princess Leia loving, female scoundrel token huh? :P

    - Calamity, August 14th, 2006
  21. So many typos in my last post, think I ate to much coco pops. Anyway parts of Scotland are mostly white but in Glasgow where I live it is very multicultural. Apart from the white folk it’s mostly people from India, Pakistan and China or people decended from these countries. Also some people from balkan countries :-D . Lol if all those people didn’t live in Scotland I wouldn’t eat. Eh the food they make, not them.

Off 2 work on my Unified Field Theory.

    - Steven, August 14th, 2006
  22. Wait a minute!

    Minute over

I just noticed that the user that posted on here called “Tatti” is the same “Tatti” that posted on my blog. She said we have something in common. Tatti, what is it?

Anyone read that book “Neuromancer”. I’m half way through it and I’m liking it so far :-D .

    Off 2 read

    - Steven

    - Steven, August 14th, 2006
  23. heeeeeeee-larious, nice work!

    - chuck, August 14th, 2006
  24. Hey Steven,
even if this might be disappointing to you, but I am a “he” ( at least as far as I can remember ) and if you check out your own “About me” section on your main blog page, you will most propably find out what I was referring to, when I posted that comment :)

And now I am neither off 2 read, nor to eat, but to sleep (4 o’clock – am here).

    - Tatti

    - Tatti, August 14th, 2006
  25. Wow, I’ve watched all of your videos and galacticast is my new addiction. You two are absolutely hilarious. I almost choked during the black HAL scene! I was waiting for a superslow tempo rap song as HAL died hehe.

    - Dan, August 15th, 2006
  26. It’s funny, but doing this episode actually helped me see that I do have black friends… the problem is that we need to get them up to Montreal to shoot. Wadda ya say Bekah… Charles… we could write a script specifically for you if you do come visit…!

Mummy- Thanks for the comment! Rudy’s okay, I was gentle on him. Disclaimer: No Kuk Sool was used in the filming of this video.

Bekah- Rudy really creeped me out as Ruby Rhod… if the hair wasn’t bad enough, just wearing my clothes made it worse! I’ll have to watch it again to see if there’s any outtakes worth posting.

Calamity- From your comments, you are free to be “Hannah Solo” anytime you want to be. Got a camera?

Steven/Tatti- We were so close to have a love affair in our comments… how sad to find out you’re both male. Or is it?

Chuck- Thanks man! We still have to work on YOUR close up on G-cast…

Dan- Thanks Dan!! I’m glad you and Calamity find the HAL scene notable, I really liked it too! That was the best Mr. T. voice Rudy could do. Did you listen to the song that I mixed during the end credits? It was basically a HAL rap song using samples of Rudy’s voice. Go check it out now if you didn’t hear it before! AND… for those of you who don’t bother watching the credits… come on guys, watch the credits… we give you bite-sized bonus jokes in there!

    - Casey, August 15th, 2006
  27. Hey guys – Sadly, yes, my flights were delayed, some missed, and I actually travelled for about 20 hours (on 2 hours sleep, no less) to get home. Blecch.

Brilliant stuff! I think Darth Poindexter was my fave, but Rudy Rhod was as Genius as it was creepy.

    - Dave, August 15th, 2006
  28. Dave- Rudy did a great job hiding the fact that Al Quaida has been targeting Galacticast, but I think the Matrix shot would have been more memorable if you had been here… you make a GREAT Neo! Hope you’re not too jetlagged…

    - Casey, August 15th, 2006
  29. Yes Casey it is sad lol.

Although there is nothing wrong with that.

Tatti – I get it now.

Just watched a chat show on tv and they talked about blogging lol. They are so far behind the times.

    - Steven, August 15th, 2006
  30. Tatti – Sorry for assuming you where female. Dunno why I did.

Casey – You are female right?

    Just making sure :-S lol

    - Steven, August 15th, 2006
  31. I’m getting a new camera soon actually. I’ll just have to rustle up some scoundrel gear and my best blaster and have a photo shoot for you two! :P

    - Calamity, August 15th, 2006
  32. Hey Steve!

I1ve read Neuromancer and I think it’s the best written by Mr. Gibson. Did qou know there is a commodore 64 game inspired by that book?

    - Ignac, August 15th, 2006
  33. Hello Ignac,

No I didn’t know that a commodore 64 game existed based on Neuromancer. I am about 2/3 – 3/4 of my way through the book and I love it. Amazing that amount of futuristic technology he can fit in while still having a story line.

    - Steven

    - Steven, August 15th, 2006
  34. Just finished reading Neuromancer. Great book. Amazed that Gibson wrote it in 1984.

    - Steven, August 16th, 2006
  35. “1984″ – That’s a great book, too ;)

    - Tatti, August 16th, 2006
  36. that’s great, I love all your video that I have seen in a row, great and… now I know why you stop posting on coderonin but I’m happy to have found you here

more than neuromancer I suggest you American Acropoli or even better Aidoru

    - Cuoredifango, August 16th, 2006
  37. They are on my list :-D

  40. hey mama.. just wanted to say hola. Miss you!

    - ms.jones, August 17th, 2006
  41. I like it a lot when you guys get edgy. I think it makes things exciting… and exposed. Pls shoot me an email when either of you guys (or both) are in LA or NYC, k?

    - Amanda, August 17th, 2006
  42. i’ve been watching your clips for a couple of weeks and find them quite amusing to say the lease. I was a little caught off guard when the statement of “black faces” was indeed refering to african americans. It has made me sit back and wonder where our presence is in this video blogging/vlogging arena is as well as in your roles of scifi. Hopefully we’ll all get along and! Keep up the good work, or shall i say- Keep it real!

    - JOHNNIE TECH, August 18th, 2006
  43. Steven- Last time I checked… yup, I’m female alright.

Calamity- Step 1: Take fun pictures, Step 2: Put them up on Flickr so I can add you as a friend and comment on them… I LOVE Flickr!

Tatti- 1984 is one of the best books every written… the very idea is mind-altering and should be a mandatory read for everyone in the world!

Cuoredifango- Thanks man! Coderonin kind of inspired us to start Galacticast… it was so hard for both Rudy and I to have our own videoblogs that we decided to found one together!

Nathan- Thanks man! That’s awesome coming from a fellow greenscreen-vlogger ;)

Emily- Hola chikita! I miss the days when I was John Stewart and you were Steven Colbert… we were inseperable due to our own liberal/conservative debates!

Amanda- Edgy is certainly the right word for it! Don’t worry, we’ll definitely let you know when the Galacticast World Tour comes to your neck of the woods. x.

Johnnie- If you think our show caught you off guard this week, just imagine the guts it took me to press the “publish” button! It was such a touchie subject but I felt it needed to be addressed. We figured that if Stephen Colbert could get away with it, we could too.

The idea stemmed from a real need that we’ve been faced with on many occassions. We honestly DO need a black friend to help us out… we HAVE black friends but some friends grow distant at different times of your life, so you don’t always have the variety you want when you need to cast your friends in your show! Right now most of our black friends live in NYC (Charles, Bekah, Bendrick). If they were here in Montreal, it wouldn’t be an issue.

I sincerely hope that this week’s episode never shocked you to the point of being offended… this was never our intention. But you’re right… there really ISN’T enough of a black presence in videoblogging and this is something that many people worry about. If vlogging is supposed to be accessible to everyone as a way to express themselves and get their word out to the world, why aren’t we seeing more diversity? Perhaps someone should go out there and make a story about it… ask black people if they’re interested and why/why not.

    - Casey, August 18th, 2006
  44. I thought so Casey ;-)

    - Steven, August 18th, 2006
  45. Well I re read my last comment and realized it is full of mistyping. Sorry I never tought that my english is that crap.
Steven you should read 1984! It’s amazing and very accurate about the mechanism of a opressing goverment (hope I typed that right). You should also read a checz book called Svejk written by Jaroslav Hasek!

    - Ignac, August 18th, 2006
  46. “[..]there really ISN’T enough of a black presence in videoblogging”

    - Tatti, August 19th, 2006
  47. Now that is strange.. I wrote quite a long comment and it only posted the first sentence. How annoying. I’ll rewrite it later since I’ve got to go now. Too bad.

    - Tatti, August 19th, 2006
  48. Okay, this time I copied the text to a .txt file first – just in case.
“[..]there really ISN’T enough of a black presence in videoblogging”

    - Tatti, August 19th, 2006
  49. Well, something in my comment seems to cause an error when posting. Im guessing its the quotes. Maybe if you find out I can modify my comment so it works properly with the comment system.
    Sorry for the spam.

    - Tatti, August 19th, 2006

    - Steven, August 19th, 2006
  51. Tatti- Rudy thinks that you may have used some text that comes up strange in WordPress… send us the text you wanted to post and we’ll have a look at it. You can send it to galacticast [at] gmail.com

Casey (hard at work with Rudy to bring you a MAMMOTH episode on Monday!)

    - Rudy, August 19th, 2006
  52. From Tatti-

“[..]there really ISN?T enough of a black presence in videoblogging?. <– I agree with that. Although I know and visited quite a few blogs maintained by black people to me there still seems to be a lack of variety in the blogging- and especially in the video blogging scene. Maybe blogging just hasn’t spread into every country and part of society, yet. However v(blogging) seems to be booming in the USA and over here in europe it is starting to do so, too.

I like the idea of exploring this topic further by asking people right from the street if they’ve ever considered v(blogging) or at least heared about it. This would be especially interesting if a few v(bloggers) from different cities or even countries were involved.

Somehow this idea reminds me back to that one episode at rocketboom when Amanda asked people if they preferred Firefox or IE. It wasn’t only fun to see their reactions and listen to their arguments but quite informative, too.

I’m looking forward seeing the next episode on monday and I hope that you’ll think about returning to this topic someday.
Keep up the great work – that way other people might be inspired to start something like vblogging on their own, too.

    - Tatti
btw: “1984″ is one of my favourite books – the movie from 1954 is worth watching, too.”

    - Rudy, August 20th, 2006
  53. Loved the show. Agree with Amanda, edgy is good for you guys!

    - Mark, August 20th, 2006

  56. Ya know, I used to think Superman III was bad, but after not having seen it for many years and then getting the DVD box, I find that going in *knowing what it is*, it’s the most enjoyable and easily the most re-watchable of that set of movies. It’s pure, stupid, silly, fun! I love it now!

    - Terrence Walker, August 25th, 2006
  57. That made me laugh out loud a whole bunch. Thanks for the laughs. Thanks for the sense of humor. Thanks for being able to take a light hearted look at this issue and not be scared to have some fun with it.
My favorite part was probably that Star Wars parody. And Rudy getting jiggy with it. You guys are super creative. Great work.

  58. I know black people.
